Prof. Yvonne Sadovy, HKU
Yvonne is an Honorary Professor from the University of Hong Kong where she worked for 25 years; she continues her work in Hong Kong. Her doctorate is from Manchester University in the UK. She was Director of the government of Puerto Rico Fisheries Research Laboratory. Her background in teaching and research include reef fish biology, fisheries and trade in the Indo-Pacific, with a particular interest in threatened and high economic value species. She has published over 120 scientific publications and four books.
She is founder and co-Chair of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Groupers and Wrasses Specialist Group, which includes the global experts in these two taxa and has conducted and convened hundreds of species assessments for the Red List. She has also worked on projects in collaboration with FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), the Caribbean Fishery Management Council (US government) and CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna).
